Sequencing
The sequencing team is responsible for extracting and sequencing the DNA barcodes of all the specimens collected by the sampling team, as well as the bioinformatic processing of next generation sequencing data.

We strive to make DNA analysis as efficient and accessible as possible, from single specimen DNA barcode analyses to metabarcoding and metagenomic analyses of complex environmental samples. By incorporating the latest developments in both laboratory hardware and bioinformatics, we will create an infrastructure that enables high-throughput species identification, as well as molecular biodiversity discovery and monitoring. With plans to sequence 350,000 specimens, we aim to cover at least 95% of all Dutch species, ranging from plants and insects we see around us, to fungi hidden in our soil and the multitude of planktonic organisms inhabiting our water.
